The Volturi coven is a significant part of New Moon, as it acts like the guardians, and even the unofficial royalty of the vampire world doing everything and anything to make sure its kind stay secret to humankind. The group has even been known to kill other vampires, if they do not follow the rules instilled by the Volturi. Otherwise, most of the groups vampires live a very civilized and educated lifestyle in Volterra, Italy. Now lets break down the three main Volturi leaders: Aro is the head vampire. He is described as being power-hungry and a devout collector of expensive jewels and items. Aro possesses the supernatural powers of extreme strength and speed as well as intensified senses. He also exhibits the ability to read the minds of others with a simple touch. Its Similar to Edwards ability, except Aro can see everything in someones mind as opposed to just what someone is thinking. He is described as having very pale skin that is almost translucent with very long black hair, and he seems to float when he moves. An unsettling characteristic of Aro is his milky red colored eyes. Now, another leader of the Volturi is Marcus. He is described as being quite apathetic in nature, and his special power includes the ability to see relationships.
