New Moon Box Office Recap: Was it a record breaker?

Twitter.com – Follow Us! Even with the New Moon craze and loyal fan followers, it’s being said that opening weekend results are NOT record-setting. Hey guys. Welcome back to Clevver TV. I’m your host Dana Ward. So, New Moon opened with a 142.8-million-dollar domestic opening – impressive box office results, by any standards. In fact, it’s been all over the news how this Twilight follow-up had such fanatical fans as well as cultlike appeal, that it just must have set records with its first weekend sales. Especially after it’s opening day and midnight showing results – 72.7-mil and 26.3-mil respectively – which apparently shattered all-time records. But now industry insiders are speaking out to clear up the confusion. Apparently, New Moon did not break the big-time record at the box office for opening weekend, on a whole. Still holding its number one spot is The Dark Knight, and even at number two is Spider-Man 3. That being said, New Moon basically doubled – yep, times twoed – the sales for the original Twilight opening weekend. So, that’s great news for Twilight fans! Now we’ll do a day-by-day breakdown of the New Moon mania. Friday received 72.7-million, Saturday got 42.3-million and Sunday brought in 27.8-million-dollars.
