The Texas native, who was born Demetria Devonne Lovato is the middle child in a family of three daughters. Her sisters are Dallas, who is older, and Madison, her younger sister, who is an actress on Desperate Housewives. Demi’s acting career began very early on, when she landed a role on the hit show “Barney and Friends.” It was there that she met long-time friend Selena Gomez and appeared in seasons 7 and 8 before the show came to a close. Prior to hitting it big on the Disney Channel, Demi Lovato did experience her fair share of challenges. In fact, the singer admitted that bullying in the 7th grade is what ultimately led her to ask her mom to home-school her. Her first big roles were guest spots on TV shows like Prison Break and in Just Jordan. After singing a track for DisneyMania 6, Demi Lovato was offered her role in Camp Rock. Her portrayal of Mitchie Torres was a bit turning point in her career and her personal life, as she worked with the Jonas Brothers. After this, Demi Lovato went on to work with her bestie once again in the Princess Protection Program and then get her own show Sonny With a Chance.
