Wow, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood just got accused of stealing the identity of country music. I’m Dana Ward for Clevver TV with the story. Yes, it is official and directly quoted from one of country music’s famed performers. George Jones – who’s been awarded several Grammy Awards, Country Music Awards and even got named as the genre’s most promising new vocalist back in 1956 – recently said that Swift and Underwood have been using the popularity of country music to gain success, QUOTE “they’ve stolen our identity. They had to use something that was established already, and that’s traditional country music.” Well, it is true that country music was well-established decades before Taylor and Carrie were even born, and it’s definitely not the first time these two gals music styles have been questioned as being country… there’s even more debate in the public eye as to if Swift’s music classifies as country. The definite country singing star, Jones, continued in his interview to say, QUOTE, “So what they need to do really, I think, is find their own title, because they’re definitely not traditional country music.” Alright, so now I’m putting it out there for you guys.
